TRILLIUM a new CD by Kori Linae Carothers

Kori moves between the worlds of achingly beautiful acoustic piano composition and lavish keyboard production with remarkable ease. The result is Trillium, a cohesive collection of compositions of stunning breadth and dynamic range, confidently held together by her singular musical voice- Will Ackerman.
Kori was born in Cedar City, Utah. She grew up in Minnesota listening to many varied artists ranging from Rock and Roll to Jazz. When she turned 8, she decided she wanted to learn to play the piano. Her parents encouraged her interest by having her take lessons. Many musical artists influenced Kori's music including: Yanni, Vangelis, Enya, Tangerine Dream, Mannheim Steamroller, Shadowfax, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, to name a few. In May of 2003, Kori's husband took her to see a Yanni concert in the hopes that it would fuel the desire to return to music writing after a 12 year period of off and on writing. It worked!! After a 12 year break, she is back to composing and is performing live locally.

    Big Band Remotes

A big band remote (aka dance band remote) was a remote broadcast, popular on radio during the 1930s and 1940s, involving a coast-to-coast live transmission of a big band. As early as 1923, listeners could tune in The Waldorf-Astoria Orchestra. The Oriole Orchestra (Dan Russo and Ted Fio Rito) was performing at Chicago's Edgewater Beach Hotel when they did their first radio remote broadcast on March 29, 1924, and two years later, they opened the famous Aragon Ballroom in July 1926, doing radio remotes nationally from both the Aragon and the Trianon ballrooms. In 1929, after Rudy Vallée's Orchestra vacated Manhattan's Heigh-Ho Club to do a movie in Hollywood, Will Osborne's dance band found fame with a nationwide audience due to radio remotes from the Heigh-Ho. By 1930, Ben Bernie was heard in weekly remotes from Manhattan's Roosevelt Hotel. On November 24, 1937, Glenn Miller did a remote on NBC from Boston's Raymor Ballroom on Huntington Avenue (one block from Symphony Hall).

    new age relaxation album

Royce Campbell’s “Ear Of The Beholder” CD is the result of many requests Campbell received from friends in the healing professions to do a New Age style project. Campbell is primarily known as a jazz guitarist (see www.roycecampbell.com), so it is a surprise that there are only a few tracks featuring guitar. “It was a nice change for me to do some tracks without guitar,” states Campbell. “Once I had decided to honor all of those requests to create “mood music,” I had to still do it with a sensibility that emerges from my love for and knowledge of jazz. That meant that I had to take a step back from actually playing a lot. I focused on the composing rather than the performance aspect.” Although the CD makes perfect background music for massage or yoga sessions, or even for work sessions such as studying or reading, it is absolutely ideal for meditation sessions. Many of the tracks have a cinematic quality that, upon closer listening, can stimulate the imagination, generate positive energy, and definitely reduce stress.

    Celtic Piano

Available RecordingsMichele McLaughlin was born in 1974 and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was drawn to piano music from early childhood and would play her favorite songs by ear for friends and family. Michele took piano lessons for a very short period of time, but quit when the lessons took the fun out of playing. Shortly afterwards, when she was 8 years old, she was introduced to the music of George Winston and was instantly moved and inspired by his remarkable talent and style. She would listen to his music, and then play his songs by ear. It was during this time that she began composing and recording her own songs. In the winter of 2000, Michele released her first album, Beginnings, which included 18 of her favorite compositions she had written over the years. The response she received from friends and family after the release of Beginnings was an overwhelming eye-opener for Michele. She was so moved by the positive feedback and response that she was inspired to work on her second album, Elysium. Michele’s music can be heard on several online radio stations, including RADIOnuages.com

    pianist Nick Farr

"The Ever Present Now" Nick Farr offers a colorful palette of original compositions that is sure to please his long-standing fans as well as new listeners. “This album,” the artist says, “is a recording I have long wanted to make. It seems to have a really natural feel, and the wonderful musicians who contribute on the cd really put their hearts into it.” The pianist/composer has included twelve original songs on this record, which sample his unique writing styles and creativity. With much variety in both composition and style that tastefully blends the genres of new age, jazz, classical and contemporary instrumental, this is an engaging yet beautiful auditory experience.
Nick’s fifth recording “Keep Moving” hit the airwaves strongly as well, debuting at #4 before moving into the #3 spot in the summer of 2004. A jazzier set, this recording shows Farr’s skills at composing more up-tempo tunes with more different instruments and far-ranging song writing. Nick Farr began his musical journey at the age of five with classical piano training. He has always been intrigued with all types of music, especially jazz and contemporary instrumental. Today, he has found a genre of musical writing in which he is most comfortable—a unique style of composition built around piano yet focused on memorable melodies and harmonies built with strings, horns and percussion.
